Discover more at: or Business Intelligence Engineering Manager Role You will serve as the manager and project lead responsible for modernizing our Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting infrastructure. This leadership role involves designing, developing, and delivering the company's core analytics platform, data warehouse, and business reporting solutions. You will manage the BI engineering team, establish technical standards for data modeling and metrics, and collaborate with business leaders across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Leadership to provide accurate, timely, and actionable insights that drive decision-making. As the central expert for all business intelligence within Maddox, you will gain intimate knowledge of our operations and quantify performance by collecting data from various systems. Your contributions will enable better decisions, effective prioritization, and improved recognition of company achievements. You will experience the satisfaction of empowering colleagues to be faster and smarter through the data and training provided by your team. Reactive Responsibilities • Prioritize and execute internal user requests for insights and provide training on reporting tool usage. • Manage modifications to data pipelines in response to API changes. • Troubleshoot and repair faulty data flows and reports. Proactive Responsibilities • Set clear priorities, standards, and delivery expectations for the team, maintaining a hands‑on approach when necessary. • Focus on quality, longevity, and speed of delivery when creating views that simplify querying core business objects and quantifying performance. • Implement systems and processes to ensure change management and data pipeline observability. • Provide training to internal business users on the proper usage of data and reporting tools. • Troubleshoot data integrations from source systems when required. Maddox Technology Environment Maddox maintains a high-performance environment. Our team is equipped with high‑end laptops (primarily Apple, some Windows) and multiple external monitors. We support a stipend-supported BYOD mobile policy (iOS and Android). We exclusively utilize cloud‑based solutions, enabling our team to work from anywhere. We prefer integrating enterprise‑supported open‑source projects with single‑focus, best‑in‑class SaaS products over all-inclusive solutions that lead to high vendor lock‑in. Current Solutions: Big Query, Metabase, Google (Mail, Drive, Doc, Sheets), Odoo ERP, Slack, Ring Central, Pipedrive, Asana, Quick Books Time, Gusto, Ubiquiti. Current Tech Stack • NextJS, NodeJS & Typescript: Custom integrations and web applications • React: Frontend development • Shadcn: UI library • MySQL & Postgres on Google Cloud SQL: Operational data store • Python: ERP & scripting • Legacy PHP: Minimal development • Docker • Terraform • Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, IAM, Big Query, Cloud SQL, GCS, GCE, etc.) • Metabase: BI reporting / visualization Candidate Profile We are seeking a hands‑on leader comfortable mentoring and working with junior colleagues. You must have proven experience interacting with key stakeholders, explaining complex technical problems in simple, easy‑to‑digest ways. • You love making businesses more efficient and scalable. • You are a fast learner, quickly picking up new technologies and business contexts. • You are focused and maintain excellent attention to detail. • You communicate clearly and succinctly via phone, email, and chat with colleagues located nationwide. • You are comfortable with abstract thinking and domain‑driven design. • You prefer a healthy team environment over operating as a lone wolf. Experience & Compensation Experience & Education: We require previous management experience leading technical data or software‑focused teams, preferably 3‑5+ years. A technical or engineering degree is helpful, but not required. Travel: This job can be performed from any Maddox office. Quarterly travel to different Maddox facilities around the United States is required. Pay: Starting range: $140,000‑$155,000 (wages and bonus) plus a comprehensive full‑time benefits package that averages more than an additional $20,000/year per employee (individual amounts vary).
