Job Summary: The Corporate Medical Policy unit develops and maintains medical policies that can assist in uniform utilization management decisions and claims payment across the enterprise; the unit ensures that policies are transparent to network providers and to our members. The Corporate Medical Policy Analyst supports policy development and provides research and policy statements as requested by Medical Directors, UM and Case Management nurses, Claims, Compliance, Legal Affairs and the Medical Policy Committee. The Analyst independently interacts with internal and external business partners including AMFC contracted specialists to perform literature and professional society guideline searches, review public medical policies and write medical policies in accordance with enterprise, Medicare and state specific Medicaid requirements. The analyst coordinates the policy approval process. Job Related Requirements Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Required 3-5 years performing described responsibilities. In a workplace or academic setting. • Required Bachelor’s Degree and RN or MS, PhD in health policy. • Required demonstrated well developed technical/clinical writing skills. • Required strong problem analysis and data analysis skills combined with communication skills. • Required ability to influence consistently across the enterprise. • Strongly Preferred certified coder; in depth knowledge and experience with coding.
