Job Summary The Data Engineer will play a critical role in the Information and Investigation, Applications Designing group, driving the company's strategic direction and ensuring a cross-functional alignment of objectives and execution. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with stakeholders to provide critical analysis tasks, supporting our fast-paced environment and working on essential subsystems of an exciting product. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, excellent communication skills, and experience building, optimizing, and managing ETL pipelines. Key Responsibilities Assist with the implementation and support of internal Information and Investigation and reporting processes Analyze and stay up-to-date with rapidly evolving data requirements, ensuring strategic framework and process changes are implemented to meet these needs Identify potential process improvements and recommend implementation strategies Develop and demonstrate expertise in communicating data-related topics, including reporting Investigate the need for new applications or upgrades to existing applications to meet business needs and make informed decisions Recommend solutions that adhere to industry standards, considering the impact on upstream and downstream systems and stakeholders Closely monitor projects from inception to completion and assist with Client Acceptance Testing Work on special projects related to data as assigned Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will have: 2+ years of relevant experience as a Data Engineer or similar experience Experience with data warehousing and data modeling Solid experience with relational databases like SQL Server, MySQL, and Vertica NoSQL database experience is a plus Experience with client-defined workflows (e.g., Airflow) Experience with writing Kafka consumers and producers Experience with Apache Spark Streaming and Hive is a plus Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach problems in new ways Working knowledge of data management software like Airflow or other ETL tools Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with bug/upgrade tracking systems like JIRA Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan an effective solution Ability to assist with multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to explain complex/technical concepts and analysis recommendations clearly to a wide audience Strong business judgment, with the ability to flex between high-level thinking, understand and distill complex ideas, and analyze data to drive key objectives Passion for Tesla's products and belief in Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Tesla, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
