About Military Sealift Command (MSC) The Military Sealift Command is a critical organization that provides strategic sealift support to the US Navy and other branches of the US military. With a fleet of over 100 ships, MSC plays a vital role in supporting military operations worldwide. Our team is dedicated to providing top-notch IT support to MSC, ensuring the reliability and security of their IT systems. Key Responsibilities As an IT Technician 2, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support to MSC's shipboard IT networks. Your primary responsibilities will include: Remotely conducting troubleshooting and performing break/fix activities on MSC shipboard IT networks using a satellite connection to connect, login, and conduct work. Coordinating remote support with StratasCorp Technician Dispatcher and Remote Administration team, as well as shipboard crew, to ensure work performed is in line with contract priorities. Gathering data as needed and providing it to StratasCorp teams to respond to data calls. Preparing and providing daily work reports. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications: Current IAT II certification, including an appropriate Computing Environment certification, in accordance with IAWF DoD 8570.01M. A minimum of 5 years of progressive IT technical experience in an enterprise-scale environment. Knowledge or skillset in some or all of the following areas: Windows Server (2008r2/2012/2016) Windows Workstation (7/10) Virtualization technologies (VMWare Server/Microsoft Hyper-V) Computer network troubleshooting Microsoft Active Directory (user and group administration) Microsoft Exchange (2007/2010/2016) Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working in a remote administration environment. Familiarity with satellite-based network connections. Knowledge of IT service management best practices.
