Develop and implement government affairs strategies to advance the interests of American Express and the financial services industry. Monitor and analyze proposed legislation, regulations, and policies at the local, state, and federal levels that may impact the company. Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to effectively advocate for the company's interests. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and communicate the company's positions on relevant issues to government officials and external stakeholders. Represent the company in various government forums, including hearings, meetings, and industry conferences. Prepare and deliver presentations and testimony on behalf of the company to government bodies and committees. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments in government relations to inform and guide the company's advocacy efforts. Manage a team of government affairs professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to help them excel in their roles. Develop and manage the government affairs budget, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of government affairs efforts with overall business objectives and priorities. Serve as a subject matter expert on government affairs issues, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders as needed. Continuously assess and mitigate potential risks and opportunities related to government affairs. Represent the company's values and commitment to corporate social responsibility in all interactions with government officials and external stakeholders.
