[Remote] Junior DS (Distribution Systems) Engineer

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Junior level DS (Distribution Systems) Engineer to help support their BIM contract. This role involves providing technical expertise to modernize network design and implementation for multiple Air Force and Space Force bases globally. Responsibilities Execution - Coordinate with Government Points of Contact (POCs) to coordinate design, installation, base access, clearance, escorts, personnel and equipment to ensure project tasks can be completed on time Stakeholder Communications – assist the PM with ensuring clear, consistent, timely and accurate communications are maintained with internal and external project stakeholders Technical support – provide input into the distribution systems design (ISP/OSP) and technical recommendations to the program and operation teams Leadership – Lead small implementation teams or manage specific work scopes for a given AF/SF base Provides technical, administrative, and operational management of assigned projects Develops technical project plans, proposals, reports, and task order and administrative reporting Perform detailed technical services on assigned tasks Conducts planning and provides recommendations on task workload Provides input into risk tracking process Attends customer meetings and serves as primary network engineering liaison Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff Coordinates development of deliverables and products Ensures quality assurance of project deliverables Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned Participates in special projects as required Reviews project requirements and develop strategies for future work Skills Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: Secret Clearance Level Must Be Able To Obtain: Secret Job Family: Field Service and Support Skills: Cabling, Field Service Engineering, Network Infrastructures, Site Surveying Experience: 2 + years of related experience US Citizenship Required: Yes Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position. Equivalent years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree Required Experience: 1-3+ years' experience in various aspects of IT upgrade projects in the DoD environment Strong background in fiber splicing and testing using Fluke Versiv power meter and OTDR Security Clearance Level: Active DoD Secret Level Clearance required Familiarity with distribution systems (ISP/OSP) design and Implementation documents such as – Site Survey Reports, Preliminary and Critical Design documentation, As-built diagrams, rack elevations and circuit connectivity matrices Familiar with all aspects of fiber testing Thorough understanding of Wired and general IT functions Ability to work effectively in a virtual teaming environment Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, documents and governmental regulations Strong commitment to a team environment and the ability to work collaboratively Strong coordination and organizational skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience using MS Visio or related CAD tools Location: Hiring location will be remote but will require extensive travel Working locations will vary but will be located on site at Air Force/Space Force Bases around the world Experience using MS Visio or related CAD tools Experience with Fluke Versiv OTDR and power meter Benefits Comprehensive benefits and wellness packages 401K with company match Variety of medical plan options, some with Health Savings Accounts Dental plan options A vision plan Full flex work weeks where possible Variety of paid time off plans, including vacation, sick and personal time, holidays, paid parental, military, bereavement and jury duty leave Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees Short and long-term disability benefits Life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness and business travel and accident insurance Company Overview General Dynamics Information Technology is an IT consulting company that specializes in cyber security, AI, and quantum computing.
